Honda CBR 300R Review

Honda unveiled the 2014 CBR 300R, for the first time, at the China International Motorcycle Trade exhibition in mid-October 2013. It was again exhibited at the 2013 EICMA event at Milan, Italy.

The CBR 300R is a bigger version of the CBR 250R. The length of the CBR 300 R is 2035 mm, width is 720mm and height is 1120mm. When we compare it to the CBR 250 R, the length is increased by 3 mm, width is same and height has decreased by 7mm. Honda has also increased the wheelbase of CBR300 by 13mm to 1380mm. The ground clearance of both CBR 300 R and CBR 250 R is the same, which is 145mm. Both the bikes get the same wheels- 110/70-17M/C for the front and 140/70-17M/C at the rear.

Design wise Honda has completely changed the fascia of the CBR 300R. The front headlamps and visor design are inspired from higher CBR models. Compared to CBR 250R, this motorcycle is far more aggressive and edgy. The rest of the panels have been given a minor tweak. The instrument cluster and the handlebar remain the same as the CBR 250 R.

However, the new Honda CBR 300R gets a new and bigger engine than the Honda CBR 250R. The 2014 Honda CBR 300R will be powered by a 286cc single cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine. This motor produces 30.4bhp of power at 8500rpm and 27Nm of torque at 7250rpm. The motorcycle is also lighter than its younger sibling by 6.8kg making an impressive power to weight ratio that will directly help the overall performance.

Honda's new CBR 300R is an answer to Kawasaki Ninja 250R’s replacer, the Ninja 300R. Though the Ninja 300R that produces 39bhp is more powerful than the CBR 300R, it would put up a tough fight if it is priced lower than the Ninja 300R when it will be launched in India.
